Florida State University Faculty Luncheon Series

Description

For the FSU Faculty Luncheon Series, I presented new work on Hedwig and the Angry Inch, identity politics, and the practice of identification. This is part of a larger project on which I am working that is about musical theatre, LGBT politics, identification, casting, and queer audience practices. For this talk I discussed a slippage between sexuality and gender (that is homosexuality and transgender) that I have begun to notice as actors speak about the ways they identify with Hedwig’s protagonist. Carla Della Gatta from the English department was kind enough to introduce me.
